Jeriel is currently very sensitive and very protective on his toys. I am not sure whether it is common for kids at his age.
When he being naughty, then one of us will talk to him and ask him why…Nowadays, most of the time, he will just cry.
Last Monday night, my friend dropped by our apartment with her son (about 3+ months older than Jeriel). Before they arrived, I informed Jeriel that we would be having 2 guests. Jeriel must share share toys because Jeriel good boy. Jeriel nodded his head and said yes. However, he refused to share. When my friend’s son played with some of his toys, he would walk to me and started to cry. The good thing was he didn’t hit and grasp the toys away. So, I will have to divert his attention by offering him another toys. Well, thank goodness, he was ok. He is quite possessive with his own toys especially his favourite toys.
He is ok in nanny’s house…hmmmm
Will this be a short term problem and how should I handle this situation?

I quess at this stage, being possesive is pretty normal. My girl too very possesive, not to her toys but towards mummy. She was OK when baby played with her toys but cried out loud when mummy carried baby and even tried to push away the baby.
some kids have their own personality. My boy is becoming very possesive over his things whenever his little sister takes them to play. But he'll readily share his toys with other friends, but only for a while, before he put them back in the basket.
I guess it's pretty normal for kids being possessive over some things. So far, Keith is alright with other kids playing with his toys. He'll just take a different toys if another kid/ toddler grab his one.
I find that whenever mummy and daddy is around, Tim behave possessive because he can rely on us to fight for them. If mummy and daddy not around, they behave well. Not sure whether Jeriel is in this case.
Usually I will show him that whether mummy & daddy is around or not, things are the same.
Ivan also very teruk in this area... he dun like to share his toys with other kids, even toys which are not his also he dun let other people play... hopefully he'll grow out of this stage soon :P
It's not only ur Jeriel who's possessive, I'm sure most of the mommies will tell u dat their kids like dat too.
My Destinee is no exception. She'll never share her toys, food, sweets, chocolates (anything) to anybody. Taught her every now and then dat she has to share her things and even let her watch VCDs on sharing but to no avail. She'll even take possession of other kids' toys too. But sometimes depends on her mood. If she's in a good mood, she'll share.
Fuih....so Jeriel is normal..I hope he will get over this soon. He is ok at nanny's place..
guess it's part of growing up...
