Blogging Experience in memories….

Looking back in my old posts…how much effort I put into writing my post with photos. I realized that I am getting bad in updating my posts. There is hardly much update on EL, my precious no#3. This doesn’t mean we love her less but I just cannot find much time. My this year resolution is to try to write more to keep as memory even though I am unable to insert photos but it is better than nothing. I still admire those who continue to update the blog with beautiful write up with photos. Kudos to all those wonderful mummies… I enjoy reading your blog a lot…keep it up…

Top 10 ways to achieve work - life balance

Found this article in The Star....short and a good reminder....

10 Adjust your perspective of work
Most of us think of work as, well, work. However, sometimes switching our point of view to a less bleak perspective is all it takes to get us motivated again. Visualise how your small contribution in the office create harmony in the bigger picture. The work that you’re doing now is part of the long-term plan for achieving your long-term lifelong goals.

9 Utilise your leave days
Some workers prefer not to claim leave days because they have nothing planned. Accumulating leave may seem like a good idea at first, but most companies have a use by date so they either end up being wasted or have to be utilised at an inconvenient time. Take a day off to travel, bring your folks out for lunch or just to sleep in! Take a break.

8 Talk to people at work and outside of work
Nurture relationships wherever you are. Build friendships so that there won’t be any dissension or jealousy in the workplace. In the meantime, make the effort to properly connect with loved ones when at home.
Spend quality time and have quality conversations with your family members to ensure that they don’t feel disengaged from you. That will also help them to be more understanding when you go through stressful periods at work.

7 Have a bit of fun everyday
Schedule happy activities such as a weekly futsal session or a coffee meet up with a friend during the weeknights. Such activities rejuvenate you after a long day. Definitely a cure for weekend withdrawal symptoms.

6 Understand the difference between urgent and important
As much as we try to control them, certain circumstances will require us to disregard the whole concept of segregating work and home.
In those cases, try to identify which errands require your attention now (these matters are urgent) versus which things carry weight but are not pressing (these are important).
Matters which are both urgent and important will be the ones you need to attend to first.

5 Get enough sleep
We can’t change the fact that work begins at 8:30am or 9am, so avoid being nocturnal. Ensure that you get your regular seven hours of sleep every night so that you don’t feel sluggish before 11am. This will also help you make full use of your time in the office, thus reducing the need to work past office hours.

4 Allocate time for exercise
Don’t underestimate the power of exercise. It’s not just about getting in shape, but also maintaining health, improving mental acuity and self-esteem too.
Don’t limit yourself to just going to the gym. Working out can be fun: go for a swim or a dance class, or organise a badminton night once a week.

3 Pursue a hobby, preferably one that isn’t work-related
Much of our time in the office requires using a specific kind of knowledge and staring at texts and screens all day. Being passionate and diligent about something not work-related can help you feel more purposeful outside of your work goals.
Activate other parts of your brain or skills by indulging in hobbies that enhance your other talents such as cycling, photography or even woodwork.

2 Don’t bring work home
Compartmentalise to achieve a healthy work-life balance. Create a space at work that is mentally conducive to increase productivity, but balance it out by ensuring that your space at home is emotionally and mentally comforting as well.
Avoid having these two spaces overlap unless absolutely necessary so that you learn how to switch your brain and mood from work mode to home mode.

1 Manage time wisely
In relation to the point above, one way to ensure that your work doesn’t cut into after office hours (or worse, weekends) is to make sure you get as much done as possible while in the office.

Stay focused and productive so that no one can fault you for leaving work at 5:30pm.

Tiring…no choice…just do it….survive

Having no live-in or part-time maid since we got married was challenging. However, PaPa and I managed to survive without kids, than with JL and now with 2 kids. We tried to manage what we can and it was hard to keep it as perfect as when we had no kids. I had to close my eye for a lot of things especially at this time when my body couldn’t take extra stress and tiredness.

Some people suggested getting help from my parents but I refused because knowing they need rest more than I need plus they should be enjoying their lives instead of being burden with ours… They had helped a lot by taking care of the kids when I go to work which I appreciate that a lot.

When my parents were down and sick, I cannot help them directly much but indirectly, I tried to manage to kids more by taking time off or taking leave so that they can rest. My sisters would be running around more assisting them. At times, I felt bad because I cannot help much but I hope by taking over the kids during office hour will ease the burden.

With my current condition, when I strain myself more, my whole body would jam and my tummy would hurt. I am not complaining but usually I would ‘tahan’ to complete my task and rush to take a very short lie down. I am not sure how long I would be able to ‘tahan’ but I always pray to God to give me strength and protection.

To make the burden more if everything just dropped on my lap on the same time – parents not feeling well, workload deadline, the kid fell sick and PaPa’s working late or in outstation. How did I survive? I was also not sure. I try to rush home to cook simple dinner and glad that JL was a simple person to accommodate.

I hate to whine and complain to others on my situation because it is my life and I will handle it…however, it would be sad to know some people who do not understand the situation will be thinking the otherwise…

Sorry to rattle on this early morning….I just needed to release out some ….no point to dwell into it but just to move forward and just do it… God has been great all the time….

Our memories – ‘More than Words’

This song just came to me last nite and I changed my dear’s ring tone to this song… However, hearing him sing with his guitar is always the best…

This was the song that kept us together during our long distance relationship. It was hard to be apart after just started to date for about 1+ month. However, we knew our responsibilities to our parents and each other at that time was to do well and graduate with a degree.

Our relationship had motivated him from just to be expected to pass his engineering certificate to continue pushing himself to get his diploma and last but not least his degree. He surprised quite a number of people of his achievement even though it was not a smooth journey.

Back at those days, we could not afford desktops and handphones. We were keeping in touch via snail mails and occasionally public phones feeding mosquitoes. He used to collect all the coins and would pass to me when we met up.

It was later when we had a desktop and also internet connection using dial-up, we had telephone but we limit our calls duration due to tight budget as student. The snail mail was our faithful connector for us. We would write daily (like our diary) and post the whole week letters on weekly basis. He made a nice arch file for me to keep all his letters and I still have the file till now. It brought back lots of memories wherever I read the letters.

When we were in war (even now sometimes…) I will remember how hard we tried to keep our long distance relationship and it is too precious to just let small war and argument to destroy it…

The song ‘More than Words’ was the song which he would usually sing with his guitar (both live and via phone). It was the song that kept us close even when we were apart…

Saying I love you
Is not the words I want to hear from you
It's not that I want you
Not to say, but if you only knew
How easy it would be to show me how you feel
More than words is all you have to do to make it real
Then you wouldn't have to say that you love me
'Cause I'd already know
What would you do if my heart was torn in two
More than words to show you feel
That your love for me is real
What would you say if I took those words away
Then you couldn't make things new
Just by saying I love you

More than words

Now that I've tried to talk to you and make you understand
All you have to do is close your eyes
And just reach out your hands and touch me
Hold me close don't ever let me go
More than words is all I ever needed you to show
Then you wouldn't have to say that you love me
'Cause I'd already know
What would you do if my heart was torn in two
More than words to show you feel
That your love for me is real
What would you say if I took those words away
Then you couldn't make things new
Just by saying I love you

More than words

Note: Dear, it has been a long time since the last time I hear you play and sing this song…. Would love to hear it again…

Life Life…as auditor…1st assignment 2012

Since the 1st assignment for 2012 was given, life had been hectic. I didn’t even have time to update about the kids and also CNY2012.

The new team and assignment were given just after mid of Jan2012 and till now, we were still changing our Risk Map and Risk Questions. Yesterday, the scope were extended and changed, making the whole team rushing for time to redo the planning documents work.

Besides all the rushing of timeline and tedious planning process, looking at the positive part, it would be interesting to study and learn about the different process of the company. I am looking forward for that and this was the thing keep me going...I am not sure how long I can stand but I will try…

Life is short...forgive and forget..move on...

At time we are being criticised and not being appreciative, even though we have tried our best, always remember God is our strength n comforter. He knows u have tried ur best...

Forgive n forget than move forward. Easy say than done... Never dwell into hurt n unforgiveness because it will slowly kill a person's spiritually, mentally n physically.

There are a lot of verses about forgiveness

Ephesians 4:32 NIV

Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

Life is short n look at the positive side n be happy. Do things well n out of heart without expecting any compliment. U will feel better...

Hopefully this will help u in both home n work....

Dream home… Location+Time

When we were in Melbourne for holiday, I admired all the houses there especially outskirt part where the houses were not built too near with ample space and privacy. Most houses were built with car garage link direct to the house. Some had a standalone car garage cum store room built next to the house. It was easy to set-up a standalone building now with the availability of crown metal buildings facilities. How nice to have extra space to keep our things in a garage rather than all filling up in our home plus space for kids to run around having fun…

Over here, space is a big issue and to move outskirt of city is not possible due to traffic jam. So for those who cannot afford a nice landed property in the prime city area would either have to sacrifice space at home (smaller home) or spend extra time to travel back home trying to beat the heavy traffic jam.

However, we have learnt to be contented to have a roof over us even though it is a small and cramped home. Best of all, we have all our loved ones staying nearby us and nice neighbors/friends too…

Pop up advertisement

Internet has been a great platform to be used for advertising. It is much more efficient and cost effective than using other media like television, newspaper, billboard etc…

However, it is annoying using the Pop up display as mode of advertising especially if the pop up is not related to the site we are going through to get updates and information. I usually will have to keep closing to pop up which will pop and cover the information which I am reading.

Shopping & Price

Did you ever experience price differences between display and barcode? Why the Retail POS System was not properly managed or maintained?

Sometimes, PaPa would go back to the shelves and take photo of the price to show to them. So far the major shopping mall would always honor the lowest price. However, it is such an inconvenience having to wait causing massive long queue behind us. It was frustrating...

So, now while paying for our things at the payment counter, one of us would do the packing and the other to make sure the price was correctly key-in at the right quantity. Better check rather than having to pay unnecessary extra cash.

Visiting Rehabs in Malaysia

I had a church member who shared to me about how she had to travel round the country visiting the several rehabs in Malaysia. It was part of her job to review the rehabs and going through all the cases on periodic basis. Most of the rehabs were located outskirts. Are the rehabs here similar to the one in overseas such as the famous california rehabs? Together with other friends, we prayed for her that God would give her strength for all the travelling she had to go through.

Pre-pregnancy weight

My colleague gave birth a year ago and she was concerned with her weight. She was very discipline with her diet and within one year, she managed to achieve her goal. During the whole year process, there were up and down. She was demotivated at times when her weight loss was stagnant at certain points. A few of us keep motivating her and she kept going on without having to take weightloss pills.
Well done my dear friend….

Home Security

Now, regardless whether we are staying in an apartment or landed property, there is always fear on our home security. Home break-in has increased for the past years and everyone is living in fear. There is many type of security being implemented from physical security (e.g. security guards) to remote security. Some people prefer the remote security which can be controlled remotely via notebook and also mobile. Remote security also has additional function which help to alert the home owner if there any water leaking and power failure. It all depends what each individual needs and how much budget you have.

Cleansing the internal organs

After having to go through stomach bacteria, I have been exploring for ways to minimize the return of the bacteria because more than 90% of patients will get the reoccurrence of the bacteria. Besides stomach, other parts of internal body also need to go through cleansing with some suggestions to use colonetix to cleanse colon. One of my colleagues tried aloe vera and yogurt which she takes daily and it help to minimize her heart burn from getting worst. Now she is feeling much better without having to go through her 2nd round of stomach bacteria treatment. I hope this will work on me…

Remembering KongKong’s Parents

KongKong went to Batu Gajah with his brother and sister for a day trip to his parents’ graveyard this morning. It had been many years since the last time we visited the cemetery. It used to be a yearly routine to gather to visit the cemetery during ‘Cheng Beng’ time where family would gather (besides Chinese New Year) when we were young.

My grandfather passed away long time even before KongKong and PohPoh knew each other. My youngest sister didn’t even have the chance to meet our grandmother when she passed away. My grandmother passed away when I was still very young (before 6 years old) and was too young to help to plan a funeral. However, I remembered how she loved me a lot being the first granddaughter. She was sick and unable to carry me. She took the trouble to buy a pram, waiting for me at the airport and happily pushing me in the pram at the whole housing area showing proudly her granddaughter. She had no preference over boys than girls despite coming from China which was a surprise. She told my mother that as long as my mother and baby are healthy, that was the most important thing. I wish she was still alive to see my kids.

I hope to make a trip to the cemetery one day bringing JL and AL to see their great-grandparents.

Everything go up but not salary…how to manage?

There is a discussion how things are going up like rocket...Imagine chicken is about RM8-9 per kg!!! I am having trouble managing family expenses and try my very best to avoid having to take cash advance payday loan. So far, we are still surviving but almost no savings. When we can save a bit, it will end up being used on the other months when the expense goes up. We end up delaying our car purchase and not sure how we can commit to get any landed property (or bigger home) as property price is getting to high too… Help me…

Phases of life…

We face different phases of life. From the time we were in our mother’s womb till the last phase when we passed away. It sound scary but then this is the truth that we need to face eventually. Everyone has to go through all these phases.

Even insurance industry has keep up to our different phases of life by offering different type of insurance from baby in the womb insurance to senior life insurance. Nowadays, insurance products are available from low cost insurance to premium cost insurance to accommodate different people’s need. There is even a product called Burial Insurance.

We should face each phase of life with a positive heart and mind as we grow older gracefully. It is easy to say than to do it but at least we try to do it.

Friends, treasure every moment of our lives with our loved ones because we will not know what is going to happen the following day. Always have the forgiving heart because nobody is perfect including ourselves.

Tired and Stress and Sick

Mummy is super stress and today Mummy is feeling the symptom of getting sick with nose congestion and sore throat. This is not good news…

It is hard to deny that the current working environment can be very stress causing many sicknesses. Hearing so many friends and relatives falling sick is a wakeup call which usually is a temporary and people will indulge back workaholic.

How to balance up life in such a fast pace and demanding environment? By taking tradition Chinese medicine like magnolia bark, will it help to ease all these anxiety?

Mummy’s New Year resolution is to balance up life…how? Mummy is not sure yet... will try … How about you?

Facial Experience to share…

Mummy stopped doing facial for many years until recently, on Mummy’s birthday, Mummy decided to try Sam Yee’s regular facial place. After 3 months, 3x of facial, Mummy was happy with this lady. She was nice and no hard selling on her product. However, best of all it was reasonable. The first 2 months facial was just a basic facial which was less than RM40 per session of about 1 ½ hour. The 3rd time was with treatment which was about RM80 only. She managed to clear almost all the visible oil seeds especially blackheads on nose.

Her centre was a simple small, cozy place and she had many regular customers. Her weekend was usually full house that Mummy usually booked for either 7am or 8am slot on Saturdays. By the time Mummy completed the facial, Mummy would be home on time when the kids woke up.

Mummy is getting not any younger, so better pamper own self a bit once a month...it is not too expensive right?

Household expenses…

Managing household expenses could be a tedious job. After few years with many versions of budget sheets Mummy modified, Mummy was quite happy with this year template modified. Even though it was not perfect, this would help to avoid us from getting payday advances. However, Mummy was not so diligent in keeping the discipline on tracking the daily meals transaction. The simple excel spreadsheet was to keep track of big item to make sure we did not miss the deadline to avoid interest such as apartment loan and credit cards.

Noe Mummy in the midst of preparing next year (2011) template making adjustment on the expense as the kids would be moving to the next phase of their lives.

Speak words that BUILD others not DESTROY others…

This was what Mummy truly agreed with the last weekend teaching Mummy listened from the church.

Our tongue is a powerful weapon which can help to build, motivate and encourage others. On another hand it can also be a sword piercing through others heart causing damaging on a person’s self confident and also destroy a relationship.

It is hard to control our tongue but practice makes perfect. Mummy used to release everything out without thinking especially when losing temper until something wake Mummy up that words which have been release can never been taken back. Since then, Mummy has learnt that, no matter how hurting is the situation, just be patient and keep quiet than, find other way to release the frustrations. The best way is always to talk to God to seek peace.

Even though some of Mummy’s friends said why Mummy is so stupid letting people scold Mummy and yet Mummy just keeps quiet. It is no point to shout to an angry person because it is like pouring oil or petrol onto a fire causing the fire to grow bigger.

For example, when Mummy’s boss out of anger scolded Mummy, it was hurting, trust me. Mummy just kept extreme quiet and tears accumulating in the eyes with the only words coming out from Mummy’s mouth was ‘I am sorry’ even though it was not Mummy’s fault 100%. For one whole day, Mummy kept extreme quiet to avoid talking anything negative to Mummy’s boss or talking to others about what Mummy’s boss did. Only close colleagues within the same team knew about it and helped Mummy to keep quiet too. It was hard not to express Mummy’s heart out but at last Mummy’s boss knew what he did that he called. Even though he did not say sorry (being a man, it is hard for them to say sorry), Mummy did not want to flare Mummy’s anger to him because ‘What will I get if I shout and show my disappointment?’ Then answer was ‘Nothing’, so why waste Mummy’s time.

Maybe some of you disagree with Mummy but then Mummy learns, “Speak words that BUILD others not DESTROY others”. Another phrase that keeps reminding Mummy is “Don’t speak unless there are nice words to speak out”.

It is hard to practice in reality but Mummy is trying very hard… Last Saturday teaching has reminded Mummy because Mummy realize that as time pass with all the challenges in the world, Mummy tends to be moving away from the right path that Mummy needs to bring Mummy self back on track.

Mummy hopes everyone will have a good day starting from today…01 November 2010 on this great Monday.

Mummy also wishes to say sorry to all whom Mummy has directly or indirectly hurt your feelings.
