Selling our Walker

After selling our Safety Gate, the next item was the Walker. It was still in tip top condition with all part working well. We love the walker coz the seat can be rotate 360 degree and there were 4 lockers to lock the walker from moving. We used to tie lots of toys for JL who would entertain himself while we were busy with our housework. It was a sturdy one. It took me long time to have the courage to take photos to advertise in the Preloved FB.

At last on Wednesday 14May2014 late evening, I put up the photos and within minutes I had 5-6 people in queue for it. Yes, selling it cheap again RM50. The first person immediately closed the deal upon seeing that some wanted to collect immediately. Deal closed in less than 30 minutes… The walker went to a 5.5 months old boy bought by Celine who came and collected that night at 8pm.

I didn’t expect to be fast but was good to have it sold fast so that I didn’t have to wait…

Again my heart was tearing up again seeing DH wiping the walker, dismantling the walker and pack into the original box… All still in good condition…. Sob Sob… L

Selling our Safety First Gate

On 16Apr2014, I saw a lady named Maya in Preloved FB looking for Safety Gate. With heavy heart, I asked her if she wanted to buy over mine for RM50. A lot people would be wondering why so cheap… DH and myself didn’t aim to earn any cash. It was still in good condition, just sell it cheaply to someone who needs it rather than taking up space in our mini apartment.  I didn’t expect to have other mothers asking for the safety gate too if the deal with Maya didn’t go through. Hmmm… maybe it is the brand the price…
My heart was tearing up when I saw DH wiping the gate, unscrewing the parts, packing into the original boxes with manual. All still as if we just bought the gate last time.
On 20April2014, we departed with our safety gate in Empire Mall to Maya. It was the gate that brings us sooo much memories.
- I remembered how our boy will hang on the gate and shaking the gate smiling to ask us to open the gate.
- I remembered while cutting the vegetables, our little boy tried to squeeze himself under the gate to get into the kitchen.
- I remembered how our boy managed to climb over like commander and surprised me in the wet kitchen.

etc.....
Bye bye…..
Note: my first transaction as seller via FB….

Hunting for JL’s Suit

After hunting for the girls, it was JL’s turn to get the suit. It was hard to get a reasonable one because suit prices would increase by the size of the suit. We went hunting a lot of shops and it would be either too expensive or wrong color or wrong size. At the end we settle with Domii from the Curve and JL would be wearing his own white shirt. We would need to hunt for a white tie. We also got JL black shoe from Isetan Midvalley which was on sale from RM 99.90 to RM 49.90.

Yes we are almost done for the kids clothes … the wedding is getting closer and closer…

Hunting for Flower Girls Dresses

It was a big mission hunting flower girls dresses for AL and EL. The criteria were:
  •  White
  • Above knee length
  • Below RM100 each

However the big challenge was to get the size for toddler and baby with same design. After hunting in shops, we decided to get Aunty Jess sos to help us to sew and yes she was ok with the budget excluding the postage.

We were all looking forward to see the dresses for the girls. AL had her white click clack shoes to wear and we got EL a pair of white shoe which happen to be on sale 50%. Next was to get the long socks and also hmmm what should we do with their hair… think think think….

Shimono blender

After much discussion, we bought Shimono blender and it was one of the best thing we purchase. We bought for RM 299 at Parkson One Utama. The best thing was it came with individual cup to blend smoothie. Washing was a breeze because it was small and compact. PaPa bought another cup to keep for EL since the blender came with only 4 cups. It had 3 different blades and another 2 more cups.

The blender was small and simple to use that JL also had no problem managing it. He had been busy cutting the fruits and making smoothies for the whole family. Yummy…..

Insufficient dining chair

We had only 4 chairs at our dining table. When we upgraded our dining table plus EL started her solid food, we need to get extra chairs. The similar chair we were using was no longer in production by IKEA. At the end we decided to get 2 chairs which were similar colour with different design which would be PaPa and Mummy’s chairs.

PaPa went to IKEA and found the similar chair was selling at about RM139 (Model BORJE). He decided to check out the As-Is section and found the similar selling for RM8x. Yes, there were two and he bought it.

Our new dining table

Our dining table was about 10 years old, purchased from IKEA. The model was INGO which was bought at RM 199. It was a bit too small for us especially when PaPa and me on our notebook plus with kids having their tuition on the same table. We were thinking an extendable table would be good when we have guests.

We went to IKEA and found the table (Model Norden). As usual, we would check out the As-Is section and it was our day. We found the same model which an ex-display was selling about RM200 cheaper. We bought and self transport back to our apartment. PaPa had to carry a few trips because it was heavy since it was made of solid wood.

We are happy with our new table.

Our new LED TV

At last we bought our new Sony LED TV… It was unplanned because we went to the shop looking to get a new DVD player because our DVD player had spoilt. While PaPa was paying for the DVD player, we found that the Sony LED TV was having promotion. We decided to go home and sleep over it. The next day, we decided to go back to the shop and bought the TV. Presently, the TV would be located on the cupboard. PaPa would slowly survey the premier wall mounts before deciding which wall mount would be suitable.

Our previous Sony flat screen TV had been moved to KongKong and PohPoh’s apartment and placed in the kids’ room for them to watch DVD. The TV is more than 10 years but still functioning well.

Electrical items bargain…

It was an unplanned purchase when we saw sales in Best Denki One Utama. The similar study table light which we bought for JL earlier was on sale for the display unit. It was slightly more than 50% without the fluorescent tube and needed some cleaning up. PaPa said as long as it was still working fine, he would clean it up and it would look new even though it was a display unit. Besides that, the fluorescent tube would not cost much too. The display unit came with one year warranty.

We wanted to change JL’s wall light because it was not bright and all units were sold off. If only we knew the sales earlier and able to grab via online. The Source Flyer website provides the online purchase with some additional services especially trade-up service where a customer can trade-in the old one to upgrade with the new one. This would be useful especially our old faithful ceiling fans were still working well even after more than 10 years and we wanted to upgrade to new ones without having to waste the old but still functioning.

For time being, we will just continue using the old fans without wasting unnecessary money.

My collection of expensive wristlets and handbags…

I am not a handbag person. I carried notebook backpack to office without handbag.

It was in 2010 when a great friend posted me a special beautiful plain black Coach wristlet for me. It was my very first branded item. I was in tears jumping to happiness…

Then DH’s friend went to Europe and got me a brown Longchamp wristlet—still very sayang keeping in the box. DH managed to get a matching string to attach on this Longchamp.

End of last year when we were in Hkg Citygate, DH got me another plain black Coach wristlet which was a bit bigger than the one my beloved friend blessed me.

My sis came back from Europe and presented me a deep red Longchamp bag.

Recently, during our 2nd trip to Hkg and in Citygate, DH got me a plain brown sling handbag from Coach.

I am soo happy as for me this mini collection is considered a lot and pricey items to me…

Pyrex…Pyrex

Thanks to Laundryamah that in February 2012, I bought Pyrex at a very good deal. The red box was selling at RM1xx and on promo in Parkson for RM25. The other 2 green boxes were from Jusco Promo (Customer Service section). I wanted a bigger one with cover for roasting chicken but Sunway Jusco had finished the stock.

PaPa drop by Mahkota Cheras Jusco after buying things from BYOB and he found it…and surprise me…

More baking and roasting…

Our new car

After many years (trying to decide whether to buy or not), at last we decided to get a Grand Livina 1.6 basic with no impul. By end of October 2011, we got our white Grand Livina. The Iswara Aeroback was still in good condition that we decided to pass the car to KongKong to use.

It is not a big MPV like those big 7-seater Estima. For short distance with not much things, we can fit in more people. During our last trip during CNY, we went up for Kangar (during a day trip) all in one vehicle (6 adults and 2 kids).

On our normal weekend, we only use the middle row and will fold down the last row. PaPa now has bigger storage in the booth. PaPa even did his own cover for the booth by using plastic pipe and a big piece of cloth. It was great and easy to keep when we need to use the last row of the seats. Now, we don’t have to worry about booth space when we go out buying things.

Overall, we are satisfied with the car and for the price we cannot demand much. As for me, I am slowly getting use to drive this car…

18Dec2011- Luminarc WHS

It was last minute that we decided to go for Luminarc Warehouse in TTDI on Sunday 18Dec2011. Sheryl Hen tempted me with whatsapp message on Saturday with her purchase.

We thought it would be a short trip and just a window shopping but it was none of what we expected.

It was a Sunday and happened the marketing head was there in the morning started to give happy period price where the price would be slashed down even more than the special whs price for a short period.

We were admiring the plain white square dinner sets (Made in France). The price was cheap and it was even cheaper during the happy hour that it slashed down by 50% of the special whs price. We got one dozen each of dinner plate, dessert plate and small bowls with 2 big bowls and 3 big serving plates. It was a great deal. We were eyeing on correlle for quite some time but this would do too…

Then another slashed on luminarc (similar to corningware) which could cook over the stove and in the oven too. It was a nice simple round plain white with no design. I was waiting one corner with all our plates in a basket with AL. PaPa brought JL to have a look in the crowd. Both of them came out from the crowd with 4 different sizes.

We wanted to get a glass (like pyrex) to roast chicken but it was all sold out.

We came out from the whs with a lot of things and big hole in our pocket…unexpected expense…

We went home to clear our cupboard. Our old faithful dinner set – thick and heavy was still in good condition that we gave to AL’s kindy teacher. Now, with thinner and lighter set, we had more space.

At last at 8+ years, we got our thin and light dinner set (plain colour) at low price.

Cloth Diapers

After using AL’s to Cloth Diaper (CD), I loved using CDs. The hassle of using cloth diapers such as washing etc…initially has become a standard routine. I am not complaining and PaPa also supports the idea of using cloth diaper.

AL was potty trained at about 2 years old and I was sad because I missed seeing her wearing all the cute CDs. AL also loved her CD that she still wanted to wear that I had to hide all the diapers away.

Using CD is good for both, our pocket and also health. I hope the advantages of using CD on babies and kids will be extended to adult diapers, so that adult who needs to use diapers due health problem will be able to enjoy the benefit of using CD.

My watch went for service…

PaPa made his time to KL town to get my watch fixed. This watch was very precious because we bought together when we got married more than 8 years ago. PaPa got it fixed and it was not that cheap but it came with 1 year warranty plus our priceless memories.

We bought our Tissot watch (unfortunately the watches were not momentum watches), both male and female, for about RM 1k which was a good deal back then. Even the lady who took the watch for service check didn’t believe that we bought both watch at that price. I hope the watch will be out from hospital soon and I miss wearing my watch.

Our new oven

We have postponing whether to buy or not an oven for quite some time. We didn’t want to regret at the end and ended up becoming a white elephant taking space of our small and limited kitchen.

At last we decided to get but deciding on the brand and size was the next challenge. After checking with colleague G and friends, we decided to go for Butterfly brand. Another challenge was where to get the oven. Good thing my colleague G told me the HQ was in Jalan Ipoh. I searched in the internet for the telephone number to call and found from HQ a nearby branch for me to go. Next, I searched again in the internet for the nearby shop just before Hari Raya and got the price. PaPa was supposed to go and get it but was caught with outstation work.

So yesterday, Thursday 15Sept2011 (today is Hari Malaysia) after work, I drove home and fetch JL to PJ Old Town. AL was sleeping. It was no jam to go there but quite a bad jam to go home after purchasing the oven. I had already checked in the internet for the location of the shop and using Papago (installed in my phone) with JL help, we found the shop.

We bought a 42l oven, a small square baking tray, a 12-muffin baking tray, cupcakes paper and a mixer spatula, all at slightly over RM400. The oven was RM380. When I saw the oven, it looked similar to Anggie’s oven. Yes, I can get Anggie’s help if I am stuck with this oven.

Our next challenge was to arrange the kitchen… at the end I kept the rice cooker in the cupboard and hopefully PaPa and I would be find the best way to re-arrange things in the kitchen.

The kids were excited to try out that weekend….next post….

Our HTCs

After about 3 months using our htc incredibel s, PaPa was the one explored the most and I as usual the slow one to learn. So far no complain about the phone. Even though it was not a perfect 100% but it was acceptable and we were happy.

Buying handphones was like buying any other technology gadgets where technology would change continuously. It would be hard to catch up. So, we would use our handphone as long as we could like our previous phones which lasted about 6 years and still working. The previous handphone was now being used my 2nd handphone mainly for company usage.

IKEA Shopping Bag- Go Green

IKEA has 3 sizes of shopping bag. IKEA is promoting ‘Bag for Life’ for all the shopping bags purchased in IKEA where once the bag is worn off, purchaser can go back to IKEA to get it exchange for a new one. From 01July2011 onwards, IKEA will not be using any more plastic bags. Buyers will need to carry own shopping bags or purchase IKEA shopping bags. This is a good move towards going green.

We bought 2 RM1 shopping bags for JL and AL. I wondered how IKEA barcode scanner would be able to detect whether the shopping bags had been paid or not on our next visit?
