Why searching for Baby Monitor when Jeriel is already 2 years old? Jeriel is now sleeping in his room and sometimes he will wake up at night to get his milk or water.
So we started Baby Monitor hunting and Othniel as usual going to the internet to learn more about different type of Baby Monitor. He found that, there are a few criteria in choosing a baby monitor :
- Analog or Digital
- 1 or 2 Receivers
- 1 way or 2 way communications (if 2 way communications with 2 receivers, it can be used as walkie talkie)
In Klang Valley ( I think maybe in Malaysia), we have limited choices of Baby Monitor and majority is Analog. It is not a must thing in Baby Checklist, so the demand is not high.
Digital is more expensive but less disruption. One of the baby shop owner told me that, he had received feedback that one of his customer was picking up baby crying from neighbour who stayed a few doors away. Wah…imagine we are staying in apartment….
List of baby monitor we found so far (mostly average price from about RM300 and above) :
- Chicco (Analog and comes with either 1 or 2 receivers)
- Care (Analog with 1 receiver)
- Philips (Analog or Digital with either 1 or 2 receivers)
- Tomy (not sure Analog or Digital)
- Evenflo (not sure Analog or Digital and comes with either 1 or 2 receivers)
After looking around, the only Digital available is Philips but will cost us more than RM500.
Coincidently, someone was going to US for business trip. So I got her help to buy for me from online in Walmart US. We decided to settle with Grace imonitor which is Digital , 1 Receiver and 1 way communication. We didn't go for the 2 Receivers. The only thing is we need to change the adapter.
