PohPoh just tried the trial class JL with Mandarin Class once a week which is just downstairs KongKong and PohPoh’s apartment. JL enjoyed a lot. He looked forward going to the lessons.
At first PaPa and Mummy thought to enroll JL to BaoBei when he is 5 years old because BaoBei classes are Monday-Friday daily. We didn’t want to burden him. When PohPoh happen to find this once a week class and JL liked it without being force, PaPa and Mummy said ok with it.
JL favourite words in Mandarin:
- Good Morning (Zhao An)
- Good Night (Wan An)
- I love you (Wo Ai Ni)
- See you tomorrow (Ming Tian Jian)
- Hand (Shou)
- Red (Hong)
JL also picked up some Cantonese like:
- Good Morning (Zhou San)
- Good Night (Zhou Dao)
- I love you (Ngo Oi Lei)
- Sit (Cho Cho)
- Stomach Full (Pou Pou) – pat his stomach.
As for Hokkien, he know the word Smelly (Chou Bi).
He may not know much words like other kids, but ok lah since at home is 100% English. We also cannot blame him for speaking Chinese in 'Kuai Low' style.

Jeriel cans speak well in Mandarin and Cantonese when he grows older. Don't worry.. :)
i think kids pick up languanges faster when they are young...so dont worry :)

Haha... my Alycia also speaks cantonese in the kwai loh slang. What to do, we all speak english at home.

Jona nowadays is picking up Mandarin from his kindy....and, hey, I also plan to enroll Jona for Baobei class later ler....guess Jeriel also able to communciate Mandarin soon from his kindy..
