Last Saturday (22Mar08) night, after dinner with our friends from Ungku Omar Polytechnic, we went back home because the next day we needed to wake up early for Easter Sunrise Service.
While waiting for our turn to enter the apartment entrance, suddenly a black Savvy which was in front of us began to slid backward and banged our old faithful Iswara car even there was a big gap in between the car. We were all in shock.
PaPa drove in and parked to check the damage. The husband of the driver who was a lady came to see. Our car right signal light came out and the main right light was dangling. The bumper on the right side was down. However the black Savvy (with Melaka plate number) was ok but just a bit of scratches.
The driver’s husband was not at all happy but it was none of our problem because it was his wife’s fault. He wanted to settle with RM 50. Were we hearing the amount wrong? Imagine RM 50 only?
Then PaPa gave option either to go to their workshop or our workshop to get the workshop person to quote. Since they had no workshop, then the plan was to meet up at our workshop the next day. Even though it was Sunday, but our workshop boss would still see us to assist.
The next day, not only they were late. The driver couldn’t make it, so the husband came. That day he looked more cheerful unlike the night before. He shook hand with PaPa.
The workshop person gave him option to buy the lights (both main and signal light) and he would only charge the workmanship which is less than RM 200. The rough estimation with lights and workmanship would be about RM 350. The man’s face turned black and refused to pay for the main light. PaPa dismantle the left main light to show him that the broken ‘legs’ were actually attached on the light not on the car but he refused to see.
He said he cannot afford and only brought RM 200. While we were thinking and calculating because we also need to calculate our budget, then he accidentally said that it was month end and he had no money, maybe next salary. Then PaPa said, in that case he could pay the remaining end of the month. The man kept quiet and he gave RM 200 insincerely and drove off his car without a goodbye. Wow, not professional and gentleman at all. He was RUDE. Was it our fault that this accident happens? If he was angry with his wife then why must he release on us?
That night, the driver called and started to talk all her long story, like she didn’t run away, she was busy that she send her husband etc…. PaPa wanted to cut the entire long-winded story short because we were in our friends’ house chit chatting. PaPa decided to cut the hassle with only RM 200.
Mummy was not happy with the whole event especially the way the driver’s husband treated us even though it was not our fault as all. We were ok to negotiate lower than RM 350 but he refused to talk and just walk off. The issue was not the money but the way thing was managed.
Actually, if we wanted to be cruel, we would have just report police and they would get ‘saman’ (compounded).
When PaPa or Mummy hit other people car, even though we could not afford the payment, we still tried to settle and pay in good way saying sorry knowing it was our fault. PaPa was even nice to send the person home after leaving the car in workshop and sent the person to the workshop to collect when the car was ready.
Sometimes, Mummy wonders, it is fair to us? Mummy is a person who is very forgiving and never like to make people upset but this incident really made Mummy upset.
The only thing Mummy has been praying is to ask God to help Mummy to forgive and forget this incident.
Check out on my next post on Jeriel’s Birthday and also how was gynae check-up on last Saturday….(this will cheer Mummy up…)

Don't be upset by those ppl, it not worth. Cheer up.
I guess you just have to forgive them for being rude.....and since they are your neighbour. We are just human, so, we sometimes do make mistake.....I bet they feel bad too, just want to 'save' face.....GOD will bless you for forgiving them....
Try calling the driver at month end and see what happen. Yeah if you are nice, you will sure get treated unfairly!
oh man...i also cannot stand people like that. if it were my hubby, he'll go nuts and look the up..hehheehe.
Poor thing! Yeah...try again at the end of the month. It really wasn't your fault and they should be responsible for it.
My sis just had an accident too and we've had to pay RM200 for a MINOR damage + summons! You're really nice...
If you can forgive, then God Bless :)
Since you have their numbers, try calling them again and discuss further.
wow...some of u experience bad experience also...
call them again? nah...lazy and just leave it. Dont want to argue..tired...
CelineW : Let it be. Try forgive and forget. After all, I still strongly believe in what goes around comes around. So cheer up sis!
That's not fair. Some people are like that. Just because you guys are nice, they take advantage of it. Sometimes I also feel that we should not be nice at all, but just couldn't do it. I know you can't too.
aiyoo. Some people just have no manners or sense of decency.
Don't worry about it, at least got something from it and what goes around comes around ;)
