Buying Bumbo seat -- Yes or No?

This Bumbo seat has been in Mummy’s mind for a few months and PaPa knew that. Even when BabyLand was selling with 30% also Mummy still cannot decide….

Now, everything which Mummy wanted to get, Mummy must make sure financially we can afford and also it is worth the investment. PaPa’s SIL always said Mummy think too hard and too long. Hmmm good or bad, Mummy not sure but it is just Mummy’s character and habit.

Mummy knew about Bumbo seat quite some time but never came in Mummy’s mind to get one because Mummy got this booster seat for JL. This boaster seat was useful since we started solid food on JL till 4 years old. Last time when JL was young, we would carry out and he would sit with us during meals time in food court/restaurant.

However, Bumbo seat struck Mummy’s mind when JL told Mummy that he wanted to show books and tell story to baby. It would be nice to have baby able to sit upright and having fun with JL. There are so many things which JL wanted to do with baby. It is nice of him.

Then Mummy checked and found that the booster seat we had, baby can only use when baby can sit properly which is about 6-9 months. As for Bumbo seat, baby can use as young as 6-8 weeks old.

Mummy was and is reluctant to buy one because of price and also storage problem. Besides that it would be able to use for such a short period unlike the booster seat which can use till 4 years old. Mummy would have to think alternative for a few months till baby can use the booster seat.

How Mummy wish there is a company which has loan service so that Mummy can loan for just a few months then return.
Mummy had been asking a few mummies for opinion and majority knew Mummy's situation.

Ok..after many months of thinking, the decision is final…Mummy is not going to buy but rather save money+save storage space for something else unless on loan for short term.

At last one item out from the head...har...a few more in Mummy's mind...to make decision...

From personal experience (loaned fr SIL), I think the seat is used for a short period of time oni (max 1+ yrs). Coz once they're strong enuff, they can push themselves out of the seat. So I guess it's not a necessity, just something nice to have.

I didn't get bumbo seat for my children. They survive without it. I am sure you can do without.

well actually we can't really let our baby sits on the bumbo as early as 6-8 weeks...cos baby's head is not strong yet and i thk the booster seat is good enough!
perhaps jeriel can hug/cuddle her at her first few mths...
i heard that "ibu" has this service (to loan their stuffs) but i dont know how true it is...

hey...good decision :D I got one..but don't find it really useful cos ashley almost fell out of it when she was around 6 mths old. Can't use it too early as her head wasn't strong enough.

p/s: i sold mine for rm100..heheehehe...sorry, none to loan you :D

You have a very good habit and spending attitude that a lot of woman doesn't have, way to go!

I agree with you that the Bambo seat is not worth buying!

Hi Chanel, found ur blog from the cd forum. Glad to read your view on the bumbo seat...I decided not to buy that as well (unless DH buy it himself for our newborn!)

My sis bought it when his son is 1 yrs old...he,he...too bad, that she is expecting in June, otherwise, she has no problem of borrowing it to you.

Hmm.. my Bumbo also wasn't fully utilised. By the time Ivan was able to control his head better, he's already so interested in his feet that if they bend forward too much, it WILL topple over. Only use it under adult supervision lo, and NEVER at elevated surfaces. Very short usage time, you're right to decide against it :D

I used Bumbo seat before. I don't think it's useful anyway. So... it's right to just forget about it. :)

good decision! I borrowed from a friend and only used it twice! Bryan hated being "stuck" in it!

bumbo seats doesnt really last that long with Ashley. she started wanting to get out of it as soon as she knew how to voice her objections.

OMG! i almost buy a bumbo. Thank god DH forbid me! if not, so much money will be wasted on that moulded plastic foam. so, which one is better, a highchair or a booster chair?
