JL wanted pet fish for long time but PaPa was too busy to get one for him. Then, 27 March 2008 JL’s kindy had a visit to a Pet Shop because the theme of their lesson was about Pet.
On 26 March 2008, PohPoh got JL 2 fish with a mini aquarium with his green cover – JL’s favorite color. Unfortunately, both fish died within 24 hours. JL was so sad when he saw PaPa flushed the 2 fish down. Everyone was sad that on Friday 28 March 2008, Sam Yee and Sam Yee Cheong came back early from work just to bring JL to buy a new fish for his empty aquarium. At last, we settle with one fighting fish which was supposed to be easy to maintain and would not die so fast. JL chose a blue fish. Mummy followed to pay the fish. Thanks to Sam Yee Cheong who drove us to buy the fish and also brought us to hawker place in PJ Sec 17 for ‘Tong Sui’.
Everyone asked JL why one and not two?
JL: Cannot have more than one, if not they will be fighting.
Everyday before JL goes to kindy and before he sleeps, he will feed his fish with 4-5 small pieces of fish food as advised by the shop. The fish only required to be feed two times a day. Every 3-4 days, PaPa will help JL to change the aquarium and replace with filtered water. So far, the fish survives till now. 
JL learns to be responsible with his fish and whenever we remind him, he will go and feed his fish immediately.

awww...ita's sons had fishes as pet too...but they went to heaven as well (if you can recall her posting)
anyway, it's good for kids to hv a pet...they will learn how to be responsible :-)

Remember to leave some of the old water in the aquarium when Jeriel changes the new water ok?
Erm...fighting fish needs a bigger area to swim aroundlah.
The fish cannot survive in filtered water without anything in it.
Fish in the shops are bred in healthy ecosystems but displayed in clean tanks. This is to attract people to buy them because they look clean!
That's why you don't see the plants etc that fish need to thrive in. Watch "Finding Nemo" and Jeriel will also learn about sea creatures.
