Preparation for Baby No2 Part 2: Breastpump and Breastfeeding

This time, Mummy got Medela Nipple Former hoping to get Mummy’s inverted nipple corrected. Mummy didn’t know all these until Jeriel was born in the hospital.

Mummy managed to fully direct breastfeed using nipple shield (which was a mistake because Jeriel refused to feed direct without the shield) for one whole month. Then it was breast pumping for one year with Jeriel supplement with formula. PaPa was great to wake up at night to feed Jeriel for 1 whole year because Mummy was breast pumping 3-4 times daily. That time, Mummy didn’t have any support and tips that Mummy didn’t pump during office hours. Jeriel was supplement with formula but his formula intake reduced when he started his solid at 6 months. Jeriel was not a fussy drinker that he was ok with both breast milk and formula.

Breast pumping was time consuming. Mummy was carrying the pump when we needed to go out at night and also weekend. However, when Mummy decided to stop when Jeriel was 1 year old, it really broke Mummy’s heart and Mummy was sad.

This time, Mummy is determined to fully breastfeed baby no2. Mummy needs a good double electric breast pump. Mummy has Spectra 2 (the first generation) who has been serving well but the only downside is it needed power socket. Time is limited in office so Mummy needed a double electric with less part to clean up. It took Mummy more than 1 year to survey and tried to budget. Thanks to money which Mummy slowly collected writing paid post. Even though not much but enough to get Mummy the breast pump which meet Mummy’s need. PaPa also helped Mummy to read up and make decision. Mummy will share in another post once Mummy has taken the photos…hi hi… as usual always slow...

Mummy also will start reading tips from
Jazzmint to start keeping enough breast milk during confinement so that baby will have enough milk when Mummy goes back to work.

I also use Spectra 2, now thinking of getting myself a new dual pump, also considering Ameda. May I know how do you find it, as compared to spectra 2 and other pumps. I also saw that there is Safetyplus which is much cheaper, and also a germany brand. am quite confused with all the choices. Thanks
