KSSR = less homework?

I would like to get other parents opinion especially those with elder kids to compare... Does KSSR system introduced this year have lesser homework?

Since JL started his Primary 1, he had homework but acceptable level. It was none as we expected because a lot people tell us it would be tones of homework. We were preparing for the worst… but so far still manageable...with lots of nagging... Sigh sigh… We hope one day he will just sit down and do his work without us nagging at him at all time. Sometime, he would be so good boy and do all his homework without having us nagging at him.

Indeed lesser homework and easier syllabus too. The earlier homework were mainly tracing , writing alphabets (like kindergarten) and tonnes of colouring. As for Chinese writing, there are simple too, every characters only need to write five time. My JS's time two years ago, they were required to write more. Spelling, ejaan and ting xie also easier, only 5 - 6 words each compared to 10 for the old syllabus.

This week will be the first term exam for standard 2 onwards, but no term test for standard 1 students

Chanel, today I spoke to a Bao Bei educator and she said that although seems easier, they learn more words at this new syllabus (500 new words with 200 writings instead of 400 new words and 400 writing this year).
