Simple Dinner on weekdays…26-27July2010

Mummy wanted to cook simple dinner for PaPa and Mummy on weekdays (dinner). It was hard to start back after a long break since Mummy pregnant with AL. Mummy stopped cooking because Mummy could not take the smell of cooking.

Mummy was always a lousy cook and sorry to PaPa who had to swallow the food.

We had enough Bonuslink Points that PaPa redeemed another small Endo Thermal Pot just for PaPa and Mummy to use because the other small one, we had given to PohPoh to use for the kids. We had another medium size but it would be too big for PaPa and Mummy. Using a thermal pot, it was not encourage to use a big to cook small portion because the food would not be able to keep warm long enough.

Just a simple write-up to keep for Mummy’s record… Please don’t laugh yar at the outcome of the food presentation…

Monday 26July 2010

Mummy cooked simple vegetables, steamed eggs and steam chicken with rice wine. All was cooked without any salt but the eggs had some pepper with a bit of Kikkoman Light Sauce.

Tuesday 27July2010

Mummy prepared the night before by marinating the chicken with some Kikkoman Light Sauce, some dark sauce, pepper etc (whatever Mummy could find in the kitchen). Then Mummy cut some onion, carrot and potato, then washed and stored in an airtight container in the fridge.

On that morning, Mummy cooked the top tray rice. The main pot, Mummy would stir the onion with potato and carrot and later just poured the marinated chicken inside. Later, Mummy added some water and let it boil. Then Mummy would transfer the whole pot with the semi-cooked rice on top to the Thermal Pot Container.

Warm dinner was ready for that day… The taste was acceptable but not fantastic. However, the gravy not thick enough, Mummy had to cut the water amount in future.

Hopefully Mummy would be able to maintain the momentum to cook on weekdays…..

Mummy’s wishlist…an oven………

AL’s Surprise Ice-Cream Cake

Initially PaPa was thinking to get a small Ice-Cream Cake for AL since ice-cream was her favourite. He was in Baskin Robbins but decided to change plan because seeing the smallest Ice-Cream Cake would cost RM55 was really expensive.

Then, PaPa went home and took the remaining Bulla Ice-Cream and made a surprise for AL. After JL’s music class (replacement class), we went home to have our own family mini celebration.

AL was so happy and excited. Then, everyone had fun eating the Ice-Cream Cake specially created by PaPa…

AL…Blessed Birthday to you …We love you…

Investment stability…

The market this year is a bit better than last year where the market is slowing improving. Those who has cash and invested in several commodities is having a big smile seeing their investment started to slowly ripen. Some people buy gold coins when the price is low and to keep for long term because gold is more stable than other investment. Currency fluctuates quite fast and it is very unstable. However, it is always best to split to several type of investment to split the risk and share the benefits. Never put all eggs into one basket as always advised no matter how stable the basket is.

AL is 2 today....

For once...this is not an outdated post...

Yes, in 2008 at 12:18pm, AL was born and it was a fast delivery within less than one hour.
She is the princess to everyone heart being the first granddaughter to both families. She is totally spoilt by everyone from grandparents to aunties to PaPa and mostly by her beloved KorKor.

Mummy and PaPa made 30 small party bags to give to her friends in the church. Mummy bought some small items from a Stationery Warehouse shop.

Her birthday celebrations started 1 week ago. We were supposed to be in Swenson Ice Cream on her actual birthday but KorKor had his music class replacement so we went there last Tuesday to have ‘Earthquake’. The ‘Earthquake’ Ice-Cream was 50% on every Tuesdays. KongKong, PohPoh, Yi Yee, Uncle Paul, Sam Yee and Sam Yee Cheong planned this just for AL because ice-cream was AL #1 favorite.
On 17July2010, we collected her lovely strawberry cake from Aunty Christine then to church for our regular Saturday evening service where she cut her cake and the teachers helped to distribute the mini party bags.
After church, we went to have a simple dinner at PJ Sec17 hawker where we bought some ‘Yau Chau Kuai’ for AL Supper Party later tonight. After a fast dinner, we went to collect her Jelly Cake. Then back to the apartment where KongKong, PohPoh, MahMah, Tai Pak, Tai Pak Leong, Aunty PohPoh Pat, Topaz and Orion would drop by for AL’s Supper Party. KongKong bought some Sate. Sam Yee and Sam Yee Cheong could not make it due to some prior church event. Yi Yee was caught up with her work.
AL had fun eating her jelly cake. Then with her PaPa’s and KorKor’s help, she opened up all her presents.
  • PaPa, Mummy + KorKor – A Trolley TeaSet (we got from Maybank TreatFair on the previous weekend)
  • KongKong+PohPoh – A Barbie Corrine Doll, Tshirt, Hairpins, Hairbands, Books
  • MahMah – A Bicycle Helmet+Knee Pads
  • Tai Pak, Tai Pak Leong, Topaz + Orion – A Pumpkin Patch Pink Handbag
  • Yi Yee – A toaster playset
  • Sam Yee+Sam Yee Cheong – A nice pink Dora bag
  • Aunty PohPoh Pat – A nice dress
KorKor was busy helping to set-up the Trolley TeaSet for AL. Both JL and AL played till late night together.

On 18July2010, we woke up late and went to 1Utama to have McD for lunch. AL did not eat much in McD. It was AL’s day, so everyone followed her to toys’ section especially the girls’ toys from Parkson, Jusco till ToyRus. She was too tired that she slept in the stroller. Then we left 1Utama just before 6 hours hit to proceed to Subang Parade for our dinner. AL ate a lot of Edamame and noodles with slices of fishballs+green vegetables. PaPa and Mummy were so happy to see her enjoying her dinner more than her lunch in McD.

Last nite, while fetching AL from KongKong and PohPoh’s apartment, Mummy told her tomorrow was her actual birthday. Her first response was ‘Cake’. Then PaPa said ‘Ok ok… PaPa would get another small cake for you tomorrow night…’

On20July2010 (today), AL decided to wake up and follow KorKor to kindy. Then Mummy got a few MMS from PohPoh. At kindy, PohPoh managed to buy a cake nearby and gave AL a surprise. AL was a little baby to everyone in the kindy from the teachers, students and also Aunty (the cook).

Mummy wondered…what cake PaPa would be buying tonight….

Preparation for AL’s big day

AL would be TWO soon. We were preparing something simple for her. Mummy was already started to survey on cakes or jelly cakes prices. We planned to get two for her where one would be for church and the other one would be for small family gathering. We usually had a small cutting cake and opening present with grandparents with PaPa and Mummy’s siblings. It was our usual small gathering. Mummy also was checking on how to make budget party bag to distribute to AL’s friends in the church.

Mummy was going through the receipts pilling up in Mummy’s wallet. Mummy realized that nowadays the receipts were printed on glossy paper using laser printer which would fade away unlike those receipts printed using dot matrix epson receipt printer on a normal paper which would not fade away easily. So, any important receipts which Mummy needed to keep, Mummy would either scan or make a copy before those receipts started to fade away which ended up a piece of blank paper.

Back to original story, do check out soon how we celebrated AL’s 2nd birthday…

…then we felt proud when he was an angel…

After all the rattling from the previous post, Mummy had to really find a way to improve his weakness upon seeing his strengths that he had which made us proud.

He was such a doting brother to AL. When PaPa and Mummy tried to discipline her by just explaining her in a soft tone e.g. “AL cannot beat KorKor”, she would just change her face to an extreme sad face, crying and started to cling on JL for comfort. JL would then hug and carry her.

One of the Saturdays, Mummy was busy cooking while PaPa at work. JL actually bathed AL from taking her clothes out, bathing, brushing teeth, wiping her dry till wearing her clothes. Then he would come to the kitchen to made milk for himself and AL. Yes, he asked Mummy to teach him to make milk from how many scope till how much hot water. JL was very careful using the hot water dispenser by putting the cup properly and the pressed the button to dispense the water.

When JL busy with his work (even though he was slow in his work), he was very sensitive to AL. When AL said she wanted to draw. JL would immediately go to the room to take out a piece of recycle paper and color pencils for her to draw.

If only he would be so competent in finishing up his work like how he took care of his sister, then Mummy could save all the money from doing any adult acne treatments due to stress pimples.

Relax…Mummy… Relax… Mummy….

New home…

It was not our new home but it was Mummy friend’s new home. We visited her new home few months back. The first time we visited was when the house was empty. This time, the house was completed with all the furniture and fixtures. It was nice and spacious. Her house price also went up as compared to the time they purchased the house 2 years ago where the price went up about more than RM200k which was a big increase.

JL was playing with the two boys and ended up eating dinner there too. Mummy was quite fascinated with the different types of mounts for LCD or flat screen TV available in the market. Sam Yee Cheong’s television was mounted on the wall using a wooden panel to hide all the wires. Mummy’s friend’s one was mounted on top of the cupboard with the capability to turn the television 360 degree. The television would face the hall and could be turned to the back to face the dinning hall and kitchen. It really amazes Mummy…

When he made us lose our patient…

JL had this ‘tidak apa’ (don’t care) and lay back attitude that really made us lose our temper. Last weekend was one of the worst weekends where he got the most scolding and canning from PaPa especially. Sometimes we just did not know whether he could not hear or just ignore when we called him. He also took extremely long time to complete his work. If he sat down and focused, it would be completed fast knowing his capability.

He just decided to take his extremely slow and sweet time causing all our plans to go out to get things either postponed or cancelled. When we asked him (after a few times), he was able to answer what he did was wrong but he kept repeating the same mistakes. Sigh… sigh…
He would even take long time just to complete one page of work and that time he decided to sleep without completing the work. Then next morning, he would just refuse to finish up the one page work before going to kindy or even when he arrived kindy early also he refused to take time to finish up. He ended up just passing up his undone homework book to his teacher.

Mummy facing stress both at work and at home with now pimples really conquering over Mummy’s face that might need acne medication. For the past few days, Mummy had bad sore throat and nose congestion. Yesterday onwards, Mummy lost Mummy’s voice. Sigh… sigh…

PaPa and Mummy hated the idea to shout, scold and cane him. Mummy really ran out of idea and now trying another trick this week which we hoped it would work, plus also with more prayers to God for wisdom and guidance.

Mummy… breathed in and out…relax…relax….

PaPa’s Back update

PaPa had been seeing physiotherapist 2-3 times. He said the physiotherapist did massage on him while teaching him tips to DIY at home. The physiotherapy room consisted of massage tables and prior appointment was required due to high volume of patients that it would be impossible to have any walk-in patients. Besides that he had also did his own exercise which was being taught by the physiotherapist at home. Once in a while, PaPa also swam often in the apartment pool to strengthen his back. This week PaPa would be having his follow-up with the specialist to see his progress. So far PaPa’s back pain had reduced a lot and we hope to hear a good report from the specialist.

Pregnant again?

No, no…it is not Mummy who is pregnant…even though JL has been praying for no3 (and also next no4) LOL

Mummy just got news for the past few weeks that some of mummies are pregnant again and most of them have at leave 2-3 kids already. Mummy has high respect on these wonderful super mummies. Mummy cannot imagine having another one currently because Mummy hardly has time with both JL and AL.

Maybe before age is catching up and time plus financial permits, we will go for no3 but if not, then we will be contented with JL and AL. By then Mummy will start to take prenatal vitamins.

For time being, this plan will be parked on the shelves till further notice.

Baby Mattress

AL had decided to sleep on the adult single bed in her KorKor’s room before she was 1 year old. PaPa decided to dismantle the baby cot. The baby cot’s mattress was placed on the floor between JL and AL’s bed just in case AL fell down. JL was also trained to sleep on the adult single bed when he was two without using any bed rail. We just put a mattress on the floor as precaution and he made it.

As for AL, we did the same and so far she also managed to sleep on the single bed without any bed rail. The baby mattress is still there for them to play and sit rather than sitting on the cold tiles. The baby mattress was just nice to cover the floor between their beds.

Kidney failure

Last week, PohPoh’s youngest brother’s wife was admitted to hospital for kidney failure. Her whole body was badly swollen. Mummy’s uncle was so panicky that he rushed her to a private hospital. Now without any insurance, just within a few days, the hospital bills started to show an extremely fast high bill. She was placed in ICU.

This really reminded a lot of us the importance of having insurance at least hospitalization and disability insurance.

Some of us were trying to collect some cash to help to ease their burden. We could not give much but hope with the small amount it would help a bit.

Dust Allergy

JL and PaPa had allergy to dust which caused their nose to get congested. A lot people got mistaken that JL got flu and cold but in actual facts, he was having nose congestion due to dust allergy. We invested a few years ago dehumidifier to help to curb the dust in the apartment during the bad hazy days. It did help with continuous vacuuming the whole apartment.

Travelling on RV

Mummy enjoyed reading people’s experience travelling in rv. It would be nice to own one here but it would be hard to maintain especially rv was not a common lifestyle here. Besides it would be hard to buy one, it would be also hard to get people to assist on maintenance and Mummy could not imagine what happen when the rv broke down and there would be no rv towing services.

Does anyone know anyone who own rv here? Imagine travelling on the road but feeling at home all the time.

Phuket 10-13June2010 (Photos)

Mummy was compiling photos from two cameras. It was a hard time rearranging and renaming all the photos. Mummy did not managed to complete all so decided to random show some of the photos.

Day Two, we had dinner by Surin Beach. Day Three we had expensive dinner at Savoey. Last Day we had simple traditional lunch… It was all about food and food… However, the kids enjoyed themselves a lot.
