New Shoe for me…

I had to go for an international workshop and my toes still had not turned to normal. I need to get a suitable shoe with open toe space. It took a few weeks hunting to get a simple design at the right price. After many weeks of hunting, I found this with 50% causing less than RM200 or maybe less than RM150 (forgotten already). We found in Midvalley. It was very simple with no special design with big heels and moderate height. I prefer big heels because I usually had to do a lot of walking around especially crossing the road etc. It would be more stable with big heels and moderate height especially for not so lady-like of me who don’t even carry a handbag.

Today is my first day wearing the shoes after sending the shoes to put a layer of soles at the bottom of the shoes.

Belly still there…

After a bad appetite due to gastric, I managed to lose some weight but not the flabby belly fat and stubborn thigh fat. How I wish all these will also go off. I got to hide my entire ugly belly with big shapeless t-shirt.  It was such an ugly sight when other part of body was lean with a bulging belly, fat thigh and huge buttock.

Follow-up from Endoscope

My follow-up after 7-days antibiotic (after endoscope) showed a positive sign. Even though it was not 100%, doctor said it was good enough. Instead of extending the antibiotic (which I heaved a deep sigh of relief), he gave me one month mild medication to ease the gassy stomach. With the one month medication, I would need to see him in one month time. The whole process could be categorized as one of the best diet pills because the antibiotics killed both the bacteria and also my appetite. On top of that with the gassy effect of the stomach, I had to totally cut down a lot of food especially traditional coffee (not Nescafe). It was a bad withdrawal because I usually take 1 hot cup of Kopi ‘O’. Hopefully, I could take a bit in future…

I want a break….

I need a break so badly, just a simple nearby break is fine with me as I am demanding expensive vacation like the Branson vacation. However, it is hard to get a break and leaving the kids knowing I will miss them a lot…  Looks like no break until the kids grow up…For time being, I would just enjoy a short ½ day break either just myself or with friends. Hmmm… talking about friends, it had been many months since the last time I had a drink with my friends.

Parking Confusion

KongKong did not like the idea driving to big shopping mall knowing he would get himself lost finding where the car park would and which part of the car park. Besides that, he would get confuse with all the many exit signs going to several different roads. He preferred to go a small shopping mall where the parking was simpler unless one of us drives him.

Car maintenance…

PaPa would usually get all the car parts including engine oils, bearings , filters etc from a spare part shop. He would do his own simple maintenance and bring the car to his faithful mechanic with the parts self-purchased for more complicated maintenance. He had done this for many years even though we were staying in the apartment. It would be easy if we ever move to a landed property. Most probably by then, PaPa would start to pick up slightly more complicated car maintenance.

Tattoo

I had a friend who had a small tattoo. She was totally against her kids from having a tattoo. I was also not sure why people will go and suffer the pain just for a tattoo. Some people commented it was self-satisfaction and there was an urge to go for even more.  Even though now removing tattoo was as easy with tattoo removal cream, I will not dare to go through the whole process of tattooing even a small picture.

KSSR = less homework?

I would like to get other parents opinion especially those with elder kids to compare... Does KSSR system introduced this year have lesser homework?

Since JL started his Primary 1, he had homework but acceptable level. It was none as we expected because a lot people tell us it would be tones of homework. We were preparing for the worst… but so far still manageable...with lots of nagging... Sigh sigh… We hope one day he will just sit down and do his work without us nagging at him at all time. Sometime, he would be so good boy and do all his homework without having us nagging at him.

Kids’ gift for CNY 2011

This was a long overdue post. It was before CNY, we decided to pack 12 mandarin oranges to give to JL’s ‘AnChing’ teacher and AL’s class teacher. We also packed extra for his Art Class, his tuition teacher and aunty transporter. JL was busy doing cards with my help. He wrote everything getting my help on the spelling. As for Chinese characters, we checked the angpau packets for the word. He was so engrossed in his work and his hard work paid off. It was not bridal shower invitations, but CNY greeting cards from the kids hand made by JL.

CNY 2011

It was a simple and quiet one. I was not feeling well and loss of appetite. We decided not to go back north because it would be a short trip and kids would be schooling on the Monday if we did travel on Friday. On 1st day of CNY, we did our Conference calls or actually using our hand phone speaker phone to talk to my grandmother who was sick. The kids took turn to wish their Ah Chor and PaPa too wished Ah Mah. We hoped she will get well soon. Maybe next year we would go up North.

On 31Jan2011, we had our pre-CNY just 4 of us in Sake Sushi 1-Utama where we had Yee Sang. Everyone was in Black Colour tops.

Chinese New Year eve was in Tai Pak house for dinner

1st Day CNY – Everyone wore Chinese clothes. We visited KongKong and PohPoh for a short while to wish then Happy CNY and went to Tai Pak’s house.

From there, we went to Ku Poh’s house for lunch. As for dinner, it was at Ah Tai’s house (MahMah’s Mummy). That night, everyone was in Green.

Here was a snapshot of the kids in Green on AL’s pink bed.

2nd Day CNY – One 2nd day, it was red stripes day for the family.

In the morning, we went to pack Yee Sang from Sakae Sushi for lunch. While waiting for the Yee Sang, to be ready, we went to McD and the kids wanted Apple Pie for breakfast

We had lunch at KongKong and PohPoh’s apartment. After lunch, we visited my Ku Kong (kids’ great granduncle) and his wife. From there, we went to 2Gu (kids’ granduncle) house. We spend whole evening there before we went to McD for our dinner.

After dinner, the kids played fireworks and sparkles at the apartment. Sam Yee and Sam Yee Cheong bought quite a lot for them to have fun.

3rd Day CNY – We met Michelle in IKEA for brunch. JL joined Tim and Emily to the play area in IKEA. It was JL’s first time going into the playground. It was a long queue to enter the playground. While I chatting with Michelle with AL playing outside (she was under age to enter the play area), PaPa went to get some grocery. Michelle even took AL to get a cone of ice-cream which was AL’s favorite.

For dinner, we went to a shop behind Tawakal Hospital where we had dinner with KongKong, PohPoh, Sam Yee, Sam Yee Cheong, MahMah, Sam Sok and Sam Yee Cheong whole family. The kids wore the clothes bought by KongKong and PohPoh.

4th Day CNY – Morning, we went to church. Usually we would go for Saturday evening service but for CNY there was only one service on Sunday. After service, we visited PaPa’s 4th granduncle. As for lunch, we went to Sakae Sushi at Subang Parade where JL got his free meal because it was the 1st Sunday of the month.

On 11Feb2011 Friday, we had dinner at Jalan Ipoh with our church Life Group. We carpool with a couple who drove an Innova with carseat.

Kids were waiting for Innova.

On 12Feb2011 Saturday, we had dinner at Shogun 1-Utama with PaPa’s partner and wife.

On 15Feb2011 Monday, we visited a friend’s mother in USJ and then to my aunty at TTDI. The kids were munching all the junk food that we went for early dinner that day. After TTDI, we went home where Uncle Madhu, Aunty Ita, Joshua and Joel were waiting for us. We spent whole evening catching up and they decided to join the early dinner with KongKong, PohPoh, Sam Yee and Sam Yee Cheong. Our old Poly friend, Shirley also came and joined us with her son Jayden too.

Today is the last day of CNY….

Wishing everyone Happy Chinese New Year and Happy Chap Goh Meh….

Home – House or Apartment

I visited a friend’s corner house. It was a nice cozy home with simple landscape at the garden. The house was spacious and simple giving ample space for the kids to play around. She did minimum extension to keep more green land at the side. The bathroom was nice and there was a hot tub cover. Well, whether it was a house or apartment, it was still a home to us.

USB

I am not familiar with all the new technology. I do not even know what custom usb drives are. However, I know how usb head look like though. Now everything is using usb plug-in unlike those days where the head consist of multiple small pins with different type of head size. Document transfer also made easy and lighter via usb thumb drive rather than carrying external hard disk or CDs.

My 1st Experience doing Endoscope

The history I was having bad gastric, indigestion and heart burn. It got worst especially after meal. I could feel my chest being pressed in when I get the heartburn. I was taking the white liquid but it did not work well. Just before CNY, I went to the company medical centre and insisted to see the company doctor rather than the locum.

For 1 week over the CNY, I was given a stronger medication which should work 100%. Unfortunately, it did not work. Just after CNY, I went to see the doctor again and he decided rather than giving me even stronger medication, he better sent me for scope to check if there were bacteria which caused this entire problem. My whole CNY, I could not eat properly because of the heart burn, I lost all my appetite.

Immediately the doctor requested GL for me and I made appointment with our panel hospital. Based on my colleague recommendation, I made appointment with a super busy Physician & Gastro. I was fortunate to be able to secure an appointment within the same week.

It was 09Feb2011, Wednesday evening when I met the specialist. He wanted to do the scope immediately that evening but unfortunately I just ate my lunch. The following day was not possible due to an important meeting which I need to attend. So the scope was schedule early in the morning on 11Feb2011, Friday. I got to fast with zero food and water from 11am onward with no heavy meal from 10pm onward.

On 11Feb2011, PaPa sent me to hospital as I need to admit to the daycare by 7am. My slot was supposed to be at 7.30am but last minute the specialist had urgent case to settle. I remember I was only push to the scope room about almost 9.30am. I did not need to change to any hospital clothes. I notice those who need to do colonoscopy need to wear a blue ‘sarung’.

Upon reaching the room, I was quite surprised that I was not required to move to a cold metal bed. I just continued sleeping on a warm mattress. I requested for totally sleep. The nurse sprayed a very bitter medication at my throat which I felt hot and bitter. Yucky… The medication was being administered, and the nurses asked me to lie on the side way. I was requested to close my eyes and try to sleep. The specialist started to put the tube and I could feel the tube going to my throat and I just slept off.

Then, the nurse woke me up at the recovery room after about 2 hours. I was given a packet of biscuits and a cup of hot milo. The nurse made my follow-up appointment and took me out to see PaPa. The counter nurse explained to us that my stomach lining was red and got bacteria which caused the entire problem. I had to take 7 days of antibiotic. I was swallowing at least 4 tablets twice a day including 2 big tablets before my meal.

My follow-up would be tomorrow evening and see how it will be….

V-Day..2011

Our V-day was with the kids. We waited for JL to come back from school to bath, take his dinner and finish up his homework. Than off we go to Sunway Pyramid. It was hard to find parking as many couples were having their candlelight dinner there. It must a popular venue. After many rounds, we found a car park. Since it was late, we decided to let the kids walking around and the kids got McD sundae. PaPa bought two to be shared by four of us. Romantic?

After getting a few things, we decided to go home to order food from shop near apartment which offered free delivery to our doorstep. The kids were tired and zzzz off easily. By the time they slept, we had our V-Day dinner by eating ‘Tomyan’, Vegetables and Chicken ‘Petai’ in front of the television. It was economical than going for all the cruise deals. Anyway, we would to go for a short cruise in future if we had the opportunity.

Happy V-Day to all of you...

At last sink fixed up…

Yes, at last our sink was being fixed up last week. We got a cheap from a shop called Houz (hopefully it was the right spelling). It was not the expensive nice whirlpool tubs but just a simple and small cheap sink. At last, we can brush teeth using our bathroom rather than queuing up in the morning using the kids’ bathroom.

Jobs…

Who is looking for job? There are a few way to hunt for job nowadays especially via online. There are many type of job posting including health care job postings. Applying online making job application easier and faster plus also saving the potential candidate from printing a resume for each job application, thus encouraging environmental friendly. This also made Human Resource Department to easily managing the resume by just forward the potential candidates resume to the hiring managers rather than sorting up all the envelopes and passing the hardcopy or scan if the hiring manager at different location.

Selling toner for recycle

PaPa managed to sell all the empty toner cartridges. It was not only to earn money, but also help in recycling. The best thing was the person would come and collect without having the trouble sending to the shop. At last the mess been cleared from our small wet kitchen area. There were at least more than 20 empty toner cartridges stacking in the wet kitchen.

Life and Career

Are our lives just for our jobs and career? Do we enjoy work life balance? After hearing a lot people is falling ill including cancer, it made me ponder what is our lives actually for? We got to learn to love ourselves and our loved ones. One of my friends who is stricken with 4th stage cancer advises me to omit all the negative thoughts and keep only the positive in our mind. The negative in our mind is one of the causes of all the sickness. We have to learn to forgive others because nobody is perfect. It is easy to say but not easy to be done.

To all, I am sorry if I have hurt anyone whether direct or indirect… Take care…
